British-Nigerian actor, director, and producer, David Oyelowo, has been nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series category at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG). Oyewole is nominated for his role in the series, Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
Other nominated actors include American actresses of African descent, Uzo Aduba, who is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for the series, Painkiller, and Ayo Edebiri, for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear.
The award ceremony will be held on February 24, 2024, and will be aired live on Netflix.
This year Barbie, Oppenheimer, and American Fiction lead the SAG Awards nominations in the film category, while the popular TV series, Succession, leads in the television series category.
Oyelowo has bagged several awards including the Critics’ Choice Award and an NAACP Image Award. He has also been nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, the Primetime Emmy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and many others. In 2016, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to drama.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards is an award created to recognise outstanding performances in film and television. Established in 1995, the award show has become one of the anticipated awards in America’s award show season.
