Talented Nigerian-American actress, Ayo Edebiri, records another milestone as the 27-year-old rising star lands a role in the much-anticipated Seth Rogen-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem; thus, raising her profile in the entertainment industry.
Recall that Afrocritik reported that Edebiri clinched a yet to be disclosed role in Marvel’s Thunderbolts scheduled for July, 2024.
The upcoming animated film will see the actress, who doubles as producer, play a black character named “April O’Neil”, alongside the legendary Jackie Chan as “Master Splinter,” John Cena as ‘Rocksteady,” Ice Cube as “Superfly,” Paul Rudd as “Mondo Gecko,” Post Malone as “Ray Fillet,” and other A-list actors.
Meanwhile, Ayo Edebiri has won her first Spirit Award for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series for her role in The Bear, beating her co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jeff Hiller, Janelle James, Danielle Deadwyler, Frankie Quiñones, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Molly Shannon, Tramell Tillman, and Gbemisola Ikumelo to it. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to hit theatres on August 4, 2023, and will focus on the teenage lives of the superhero turtles, as revealed in the recently released teaser trailer.
