One of Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, the Headies, has announced the opening of its submission window for the 16th edition of the award show. The music award, which is known for recognising outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry, made the official announcement on their Instagram page stating, “It’s that TIME! The 16th Headies call for entry is on.”
For the 2023 edition, the eligibility period covers songs and projects released from January 2022 to March 2023. Artists and music professionals are encouraged to submit their entries before the submission window closes on the 16th of June, 2023. The announcement of the submission entries was preceded by a stakeholder’s conference, which was held at the US Consulate.
While speaking about the conference and the award show, Ayo Animashaun, the founder of the Headies said, “It was indeed a great pleasure hosting The Headies Stakeholder’s Brunch in partnership with the US Consulate. I had the privilege of inviting some of our esteemed clients. The past, the present and would-be sponsors. It was an opportunity to share our vision and discuss The Headies project while sharing insights about our incredible and jaw-dropping numbers last year. From views to digital impressions, online engagements and downloads. Our record was unprecedented. We go again this year, the campaign that is right ahead of us. Let’s do this.”
Since its launch in 2006, the award show has continued to celebrate artistes from different parts of the world with its award categories that range from the Next Rated award to the Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, music executives of the Year, Rookie of the year and many others. Some artistes who have won the award include Olamide, Adekunle Gold, Tems, Wizkid, Omah Lay, Simi, Waje, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, and many others.
Artistes can make submissions here.
