Showmax has released a trailer video for its new South African series, Adulting. “Sometimes life is tough, but there are no cowardly soldiers here. We cry together, dance together, and push together,” the streaming service teased in a tweet.
Set in Johannesburg, Adulting explores the “bromance” and the parallel lives of four university friends – a family man, a toy-boy, an alpha male and a single father – as they go through life’s loops while navigating their careers and relationships in modern-day South Africa.
The new series is an eight-part drama rooted in Joburg pop culture, and set to premiere exclusively on Showmax, March 20th, 2023, with new episodes every Monday.
The Showmax Original series features South African actors led by Thembinkosi Mthembu – known for his role as “Mabutho” in The River – starring as Bonga, a successful businessman, along with Thabiso Rammusi, Nhlanhla Kunene, and former Big Brother Mzansi housemate, Luthando ‘BU’ Mthembu, best known as “Bu Zulu Vegan.” Other cast members include Winnie Ntshaba, Sikelelwa Vuyeleni, Buhle Samuels, and Lungile Duma. Also to make a guest appearance is South African singer, Boohle.
Adulting is written and produced by Phathu Makwarela, with Menga Nhlabathi as director. The show is the first Showmax Original from Tshedza Pictures, the production company behind the acclaimed series, The River.
