Orire Nwani’s “Love & Seclusion” Set for North American Premiere at New York University

Nigerian award-winning director, Orire Nwani‘s latest film, Love & Seclusion, is set to make its North American premiere at New York University on February 23, 2024. The film’s journey to New York comes on the heels of its recognition as the only African recipient and winner of the New York City Women’s Fund in the feature fiction category in 2023.

Starring the fast-rising actors Efa Iwara and Tope Olowoniyan in leading roles, Love & Seclusion, is set during the pandemic and tells the story of a young woman, Tola, a young Lagos wife eager to have her first child during the quarantine. However, her husband isn’t on the same page about starting a family, leading to unexpected twists in their relationship. The cast ensemble also includes Inem King, Olanrewaju Ayanwale, Jaybo Charles, and Odiah Emmanuel.

Love & Seclusion is a co-production of Nwani’s co-founded Conceptified Media and Vancouver-based CANO Production based on a screenplay by Clementina Ojie, with Josh Olaoluwa as producer.

The film’s premiere will be followed by a Q&A session with the cast and creative team, giving the audience a deeper insight into the making of the film and the inspiration behind its story.

While a global release date is yet to be confirmed, the production team has hinted that Love & Seclusion will get a wider release later in the year, after its successful run in the festival circuit. 

Nwani’s Conceptified Media recently achieved success at the Red Sea Souk market with their project, Fantastic Tale, which won the Red Sea Prize for production, a feat that underscores the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional storytelling.
