Nominees for 17th Edition of The Future Awards Africa Unveiled

The Future Project, organisers of the Future Awards Africa (TFAA), has unveiled the nominees for the 17th edition of the annual awards. The award celebrates the excellence and creativity of young Africans who have made remarkable contributions in diverse fields.

The nominations list spans 25 categories, covering a wide spectrum of achievements, including education, law, professional service, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, photography, filmmaking, acting, and a host of others.

Notable nominees listed include Nollywood rising stars, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, (House of Secrets); lead cast of InkBlot’s Far From Home, Mike Afolarin, and co-star, Genoveva Umeh. Popular content creator, Layi Wasabi, music video director, Dammy Twitch, Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, sensational Afrobeats singers, Arya Starr and Asake, Guinness World Record holder and celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, were also nominated.

According to the organisers, “The nominees are an embodiment of what the Future Awards truly represents – resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. […] They remind us that the future of Africa is bright.”

The announcement was streamed live on YouTube and Instagram, with actor and former Big Brother Africa housemate, Tayo Foniran, making the announcement alongside actress India Aisien.

Hosts of the 2023 Future Awards Africa - Afrocritik

The  Future Awards Africa, described by Forbes as the “Most important awards for outstanding young Africans”, was founded by journalists, Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams. It honours outstanding young Africans between the ages of 18-31. Beyond the awards, the TFAA serves as a movement that empowers young Africans to continue to contribute to the development of the continent and inspire greatness.

The upcoming awards ceremony is themed: “Defying the Odds, Inspiring Greatness”.
