Nigerian filmmaker Tolulope Ajayi‘s feature debut, Over the Bridge, is gearing up for its World Premiere in the UK on 18th October, 2023, as the UK’s leading neighbourhood cinema, Picturehouse Cinemas is set to screen the title across 10 theatres in six cities.
Presented in partnership with Beyond Nollywood and Dark Matter, “this one-off Picturehouse screening offers a unique opportunity for lovers of world cinema to see a rare big-screen treat from the African continent”, says Nadia Denton, founder, Beyond Nollywood.
Written and produced by Tosin Otudeko, Over the Bridge follows the story of Folarin Marinho, played by Ozzy Agu, a Lagos-based investment banker entangled in a controversial rail construction project. Plagued by an alcohol problem and intermittent panic attacks, Folarin’s life takes a dark turn when his ethics are compromised over the contentious project, unravelling his marriage with his glamorous wife, Jumoke (Segilola Ogidan).
He finds himself sinking deeper into an illegal high-stakes business deal where corruption is the name of the game. Over the Bridge is a modern, time-shifting tale of family and morals narrated with suspense and intrigue.
Directed by Tolulope Ajayi, the film boasts a stellar cast, including veteran actress, Joke Silva, Deyemi Okalanwon, Chimezie Imo, Paul Adams, Oludara Egerton-Shyngle, alongside the lead cast, Agu and Ogidan.
The film’s theatrical release in Nigeria and other regions is expected to be announced soon.
