Nigerian publishing consultant, Nancy Adimora, is set to launch a publishing consultancy and studio, OtherStories. OtherStories will help publishers find and publish stories from underrepresented writers. It is set to launch fully in January 2024.
With OtherStories, Adimora aims to support publishers across the different stages of publishing. The organisation will help develop ideas through its IP development studio and help promote published works. Through its network of community experts and specialists, OtherStories will provide monthly insights and trend reports to help editorial teams recognise and explore new publishing opportunities.

While speaking to Bookseller about OtherStories, Adimora said, “I’m delighted to be launching OtherStories. We all want to see sustainable change in this industry, and while writing competitions and mentoring schemes are incredible initiatives, they can only go so far. As an extension of existing publishing teams, we not only help with identifying new writers and stories, but we’re also focused on audience development strategies that guarantee that these books have the best possible chance of commercial success.”
Nancy Adimora is a renowned publishing consultant and the founding editor of AFREADA. She has worked at HarperCollins and Mills & Boon. Adimora has been named a Bookseller Rising Star, and she was listed as one of the 150 most influential people in UK publishing. She co-edited the essay collection, Of This Our Country, and recently co-curated Africa Writes.
