Tems Nominated for 2023 Golden Globe Awards

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Openiyi “Tems” Temilade, has just been nominated in the Best Original Score in a Motion Picture category in the 80th edition of the Golden Globe Awards. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in California, USA on the 10th of January, 2023. 

Tems is nominated alongside American singer and businesswoman, Rihanna; film composer, Ludwig Göransson, and film director, Ryan Coogler, for the song “Lift Me Up” which was included as an original soundtrack of the 2022 Marvel Cinematic film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Tems reacted to the news of her Golden Globe Awards nomination on her Twitter handle, with, “My God!! this one is too much❤️.”

Recall that Tems won only days ago in the Best New Artist category at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. The singer is best known for the award-winning song, “Essence” with Nigerian Afrobeats star, Wizkid. She is also known for records such as, For Broken Ears, and If Orange was a Place.

Presided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the Golden Globe Awards honours the best in both film and American television in the focus year. This year’s award will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael.
