Chijioke’s Dear Zini took first place, while Truth Bakare’s Summer Bloom and Mujahid Ameen Lilo’s Landscape of Loss, came second and third, respectively.

Nigerian writer, Chiziterem Chijioke, has been announced as the winner of the 2023 Quramo Writers’ Prize. The announcement was made after the conclusion of the annual of the Quramo Festival of Words. Chijioke’s Dear Zini took first place, while Truth Bakare’s Summer Bloom and Mujahid Ameen Lilo’s Landscape of Loss, came second and third, respectively. Chijioke will receive one million naira and a book publishing contract with Quramo Publishing.

The prize was judged by a three-man jury, comprising Nigerian writers, Eghosa Imasuen (as head juror), Lechi Eke, and Anote Ajeluorou.

Now in its 7th year, the Quramo Writers’ Prize was established as a platform to showcase new writers and their manuscripts with the global literary community. Since its debut, the literary prize has helped African writers publish their works and exposed them to great opportunities.
