Global streaming service, Netflix, will on April 25, launch an upcoming special, titled, The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
The news was met with much fanfare as Obama writes on Twitter, “Exciting news! Oprah and I will be releasing a Netflix special, The Light We Carry, on April 25. She and I will discuss everything from relationships, friendship, self-confidence, and more! Can’t wait for you to watch!”
The official trailer released gives viewers a sneak peek into the intimate and candid chat between the two iconic and influential black women. In the expository, yet entertaining interview with legendary media mogul, Oprah Winfrey, former First Lady and bestselling author, Michelle Obama, opens up on issues ranging from menopause to social issues and romance.

The 80-minute special filmed at the final stop on the tour for her 2022 bestseller, The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, features Obama as she “shares personal family stories about her childhood and time in the White House, offers hard won wisdom about self-confidence, fear, and aging, and gives practical advice for living in modern times, including the power of a kitchen table full of friends.”
The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey is produced by Obama’s Higher Ground Productions in a multiyear deal with Netflix, and directed by Linda Mendoza.
