Centurion Theatre to host Nova Festival, Showcase Six Stage Performances

Centurion Theatre, in collaboration with Scenario College for Performing Arts, will host the 2023 edition of the Nova Festival for New, Young and Original Theatre from 3rd to 5th July, 2023.

The three-day festival tagged “New Voice, New Theatre Line-up” will provide a platform for young, upcoming, student artists, and theatre-makers to showcase their talents and contribute to the evolution of South African Theatre industry.

The event, focused on original performances, will feature a diverse selection of six captivating productions of different genres including one-man plays, devised works, physical theatre, dance, performance art, and more.

Described as a stellar line-up of original theatre, the six selected production includes Mila’s Song, a devised one-act play directed by Chane-Louise Bornman; Gen by Rix Haji-Loucas; Not I by Marlon Rossouw; Lem by Celia du Toit and Ryan Rossouw; What Have You Done with The Garden by Ignatius Van Heerden; and Inversion by Lacuna Artistry Production. All six performances will be in English and Afrikaans.

The stage performances will hold at the Die Centurion Teater in Gauteng province, from 17:30pm to 21:30pm in a back-to-back production with 15–20-minute intermissions between each show.

Tickets are available on Centurion Teater official website (http://centurionteater.co.za), priced at R120, and directly distributed to the performing artists. A single ticket will grant access to all six productions.

The Nova Festival is proudly sponsored by Scenario College for Performing Arts and Centurion Theatre, a fully equipped theatre with a 235 sitting capacity hosting all kinds of shows including cabaret, comedy, drama, conferences, and seminars. It was established by Dr. Douw Greeff in 1993, and currently managed by Sanette Olivier.

Scenario College combines performance arts training with entrepreneurship in honing the students’ skills, and empowering new generation of artists and performers to create successful and lucrative careers in the Arts industry.
