Ayesha Harruna Attah Sells Movie Rights for Her Novel, Zainab Takes New York

Ghanaian novelist, Ayesha Harruna Attah, has sold the movie rights to her fifth novel, Zainab Takes New York, to Assemble Media. The deal was made by Attah’s agents at Pontas Literary & Film Agency.

Assemble Media is an independent publisher and events business based in East London.

Zainab Takes New York follows the story of Zainab Sekyi, a woman set to eke a successful life in the busy city of New York.  The novel was published in April 2022 by Headline Publishing Group (UK).

Attah, a Senegal-based Ghanaian novelist and essayist, is the author of Harmmatan Rain (2008), Saturday’s Shadow (2015), The Hundred Wells of Salaga (2019), and The Deep Blue Between (2020).
