Truth is a Flightless Bird, authored by Akbar Hussain, has been acquired by Chudor House Productions and Artist International Group.

One of Kenya’s bestselling novels, Truth is a Flightless Bird, is set to be adapted into a television series. The crime fiction, authored by Akbar Hussain, has been acquired by Chudor House Productions and Artist International Group. 

Odiri Iwuji from Chudor House and Aleksey Ageyev from Artist International Group will produce the series, while NneNne Iwuji will serve as the executive producer and co-writer, alongside Adam Targum. 

Truth is a Flightless Bird tells the story of Nice, a young lady who flees from life and her UN job to the arms of Duncan, an American pastor. However, Nice is not only fleeing, she is also mulling drugs. When Duncan awakes after a car crash and discovers Nice is missing, he must plunge deep into the underworld to get Nice back. Set between Kenya and the US, Truth is a Flightless Bird television adaptation will explore how far a preacher can go without losing his faith.

While speaking about partnering with Adam Targum for the adaptation, Odiri Iwuji said, “When we optioned Akbar Hussain’s novel, we knew that we needed a very experienced and passionate creator to help bring it to life for the screen. Adam embodies both. We are thrilled to have both Adam and NneNne deliver Akbar’s uniquely captivating story to an international audience very soon.”
