Umuofia Arts and Books Festival Gears up for Its Second Edition, Calls for Submission for Its Anthology

The organisers of the Umuofia Arts and Books Festival have announced the return of the festival for its second edition. The festival will be held from July 31st to August 3rd, 2024, in Enugu, Nigeria. 

Following the resounding success of its inaugural edition in Awka, Anambra State, in 2023, the festival has established itself as a reputable Arts and Books Festival in Eastern Nigeria. This year’s theme, “Rebirth”, will include lots of activities such as book discussions, book readings, drama performances, art exhibitions, music concerts, poetry performances, and a variety of other artistic activities.

“We are thrilled to bring the Umuofia Arts and Books Festival to Enugu this year”, said the festival’s spokesperson, Michael Chukwudera Chiedoziem. “The theme ‘Rebirth’ signifies our commitment to reviving and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Igbo people, as it relates to the global world. We invite everyone to join us in this celebration of art, literature, and community.”

In addition to the numerous events, the festival will also be launching its first anthology. Submissions are open to all writers, and the festival invites entries in the categories of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and essays. The theme for submissions is centred on “Rebirth.”

All submissions should be typewritten in Times New Roman font, size 12pt. The email subject should contain the title of your submission and genre. All entries should be sent to umuofiabookfestival@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is June 30th, 2024.
