The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has partnered with American training institute, CineArts Academy, to provide a cost-free, intensive three-month certificate training course for budding filmmakers. This partnership is part of the UCC’s plans to commemorate the 10th Uganda Film Festival coming up in May.

The free training programme is one of Uganda Communications Commission’s (UCC) several non-cash incentives aimed at empowering local film creators with the requisite skills to thrive in the country’s burgeoning film industry, compete effectively in the international film market, and attract foreign investment. More than 500 participants completed the training program in 2022, with 16 top participants from each course awarded scholarships to study Diploma in Film Production.
