South African Music Awards (SAMAs) has released the nominations list for its 29th edition. The award ceremony will be held from the 17th to 18th of November, 2023, at the Durban International Convention Centre, South Africa. 

The ceremony is dedicated to celebrating South Africa’s musical talent. Late South African rapper, AKA, leads the nominations list with seven nominations. Other nominated artistes include Kelly Khumalo, Kabza De Small, Lloyiso, Mafikizolo, Sincerely Anne, Choko, The Great Yawn, and many others. Nigerian artistes and creatives were not left out of the nominations list as Davido, Tim Lyre, and CKay were nominated in the Rest of Africa category, while Jimi Adesanya and Meji Alabi were nominated in the Best Produced Music Video category.

In a statement released by the CEO of the Recording Industry of South Africa, Nhlanhla Sibisi, she said, “We commend their artistry, resilience, and tenacity that have led to them rising to the top and positioning themselves to be in line for the highest music accolade SA can bestow on an artiste. We wish them well as we embark on the road to Sama29 in KwaZulu-Natal.”

The South African Music Awards is an annual music award hosted by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). Since its inception, the award show has honoured the country’s best music talents. The award ceremony is usually filled with top-notch performances and this year, artistes are expected to give outstanding performances.
