“A Quiet Monday is a story dear to my heart and I can’t wait to share it with you all,” announced Dika on Twitter as he shared the first poster for the film, giving audience a sneak peek of the story.
Although details about the plot have been kept under wraps, Ofoma, however, described the film, which explores the complexities of communal and familial relationships, as his most challenging film yet as he takes helm as screenwriter and director for the film. A Quiet Monday marks his third release following the success of his short films, The Way Things Happen (2022), and A Japa Tale (2023), which explores the dynamics of relocation through the story of a young couple, Emuche and Dubem.
Produced by Blessing Uzzi and Maryann Eziekwe with Muhammad Attach as cinematographer, A Quiet Monday stars Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Emmanuel Igwe, Ozioma Ejiofor, Daniel Ngozika, and Onyinye Odokoro.
Principal photography for the film, which was shot in the coal city of Enugu, wrapped in January. It is currently in post-production stage with Olalekan Afolabi leading as the editor and post production supervisor.
Dika Ofoma has been working on the project since September 2022, around the post production time of A Japa Tale which debuted on YouTube. More details about the new film’s released date and distribution format are expected to be unveiled in the coming days.
