Femi Kayode Shortlisted for the 2024 CWA Daggers Award

Femi Kayode is nominated in the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger category.

The organisers of the 2024 Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) have unveiled the shortlist for its latest edition. On the shortlist, Nigerian writer, Femi Kayode, clinches a spot in the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger category for his work, Gaslight. The only African on the shortlist, Kayode shares the shortlist with other crime writers like Maz Evans, Eli Cranor, Amy Chua, Jake Lamar, Maud Ventura, Michael Finkel, Ambrose Parry, Joffe Books, Megan Toogood, and others. The winners in each category will be announced on July 4, 2024, at the Daggers Dinner. Dagger winners will receive a one-year membership in the CWA.

Femi Kayode is a Nigerian writer and trained psychologist. His debut novel, Lightseekers, was selected as a Best Crime Novel of the Month by The Times, Sunday Times, Independent, Guardian, Observer, Financial Times and Irish Times, and was longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger Award. Gaslight is Kayode’s second novel.

Created in 1955, the Crime Writers’ Association Dagger Awards is an annual writing award that recognises writers of crime-related non-fiction, including true crime. CWA’s award categories include the CWA Gold Dagger, CWA Gold Dagger for Crime Fiction in Translation, CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, The CWA ALCS Gold Dagger for Non-Fiction, CWA New Blood Dagger, CWA Dagger in the Library, CWA Historical Dagger, CWA Short Story Dagger, The Debut Dagger, Publisher of the Year Dagger, and CWA Diamond Dagger
