Durban FilmMart Opens Applications for 2024 Pitch and Finance Forum

Applications for animation projects are to close on December 1, 2023, while live-action project submissions will remain open till January 20, 2024.

The Durban FilmMart Pitch and Finance Forum, Africa’s leading film finance and co-production market, is currently open for applications for both animated and live-action projects. 

Filmmakers from all over Africa are invited to submit their projects for inclusion in the 15th edition, scheduled to be held from July 19 to 22, 2024, in Durban, South Africa.

Application for animation projects, which opened on November 7, will close on December 1, 2023, while application for live-action projects will run from November 21 to January 20, 2024. 

To apply, interested filmmakers must have an active feature or series project in development, with one or more of the main creative roles (director, writer, or producer) being held by someone from Africa or the African Diaspora.

Shortlisted recipients will be notified in April 2024 to commence their online mentorship programme from May to July 2024. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to present their projects in person at the Pitch and Finance Forum taking place in Durban from July 18 to 22, 2024.

The DFM Pitch and Finance Forum, now in its 15th year, is organised annually by the Durban FilmMart Institute, a non-profit company that facilitates local and international trade and investment in African film content, contributing to market growth.

The event not only showcases and boosts African cinema talent, but also strives to establish partnerships amongst industry players to foster the growth of the African film industry. Delegate registration will open in April 2024.
