On this year’s nominations list, Davido, Wizkid, Asake, and Goya Amenor clinch nominations in the Friends of Amapiano, and Most Viral Amapiano Song of the Year category…

Nigerian artistes, Davido, Asake, Wizkid, and Goya Amenor, have been nominated at the South African Amapiano Music awards for their contributions to the genre. In this year’s nomination list, Davido, Wizkid, and Asake have been nominated in the Friends of Amapiano category. In contrast, Goya Amenor got nominated in the Most Viral Amapiano Song of the Year category for his song, “Ameno Amapiano Remix (You Wanna Bamba).” Following its inaugural edition in 2021, the award show will return on the 2nd of April at the Sun Arena, South Africa.
The 2023 edition, hosted by Robot Boii, sees Kabza De Small leading the nominations list with nine nominations, while Young Stunna, and Toss follow up closely with eight nominations each. Other nominated artistes include Uncle Waffles, DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Major League DJz, DJ Maphorisa, Musa Keys, Boohle, and many others.
During a press statement, DJ Qness, CEO of the South African Amapiano Awards, stated, “The South African Amapiano Awards are one of South Africa’s most anticipated music awards which look to celebrate the hottest Amapiano artists. As part of our mission, ‘Amapiano to the world,’ we will continue to push the frontiers while showcasing the impact African music and culture is making across the world.”
In addition to celebrating top Amapiano performers in South Africa, the awards ceremony will also serve as a platform for business owners to display their goods.
