The South African Film and Television Awards ceremony will air on SABC3 and Mzansi Magic on October 26th.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has revealed the nominees for this year’s South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs18). The award ceremony will air on SABC3 and Mzansi Magic on October 26th. This year, the SAFTAs introduced five exciting new categories, including Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Special Effects in Hair and Makeup, and Best Original Song for a Telenovela, TV Drama, or Feature Film.
South Africa’s top production houses, Tshedza Pictures and Burnt Onion Productions lead the nominations list with 29 and 22 nominations, respectively. Other nominees include Thembinkosi Mthembu, Nomzamo Mbatha, Bianca Amato, Clement Maosa, Je-ani Swiegelaar, Eugene Olof, Renate Stuurman, Tinah Mnumzana, Siyabonga Raymond Sepotokele, Mmabatho Mogomotsi, Vusi Kunene, and many others.
Additionally, posthumous nominations were awarded to Mpho Sebeng and Connie Chiume, to acknowledge their contributions to the South African film industry.
Created in 2006, the South African Film and Television Awards is an annual South African film awards ceremony hosted by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), to honour and celebrate excellence in the local film and television industry.
