After the success of his first feature-length film, Yahoo+, Nigerian filmmaker, Ebuka Njoku, is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated second project, ỤNỌ (The F in Family).

In an exclusive statement to Afrocritik, Njoku says he aims to release the film in cinemas next year. Now in its post-production phase, the upcoming title is a blend of family drama and romantic comedy that shines light on the joys, bonds, and imperfections that define the 21st-century Nigerian family.

ỤNỌ (the F in Family) is going to be totally different from Yahoo +.  For Yahoo +, the idea was to create a nightmare. For ỤNỌ (the F in Family), we’re aiming at sweetness”, says Njoku, teasing the film’s plot via a post on X

Set in Enugu, the heart of Eastern Nigeria, the film’s plot unfolds over the course of a day, as an eccentric young man, Junior (played by Keezyto, Yahoo+) attempts to introduce his fiancée to his family after a decade of estrangement. Little does he know that this seemingly simple act will put both his relationship and family through a test of fire.

ỤNỌ boasts relatable characters and humorous banter brought to life with stellar performances from industry veterans – Nkem Owoh and Jennifer Eliogu – alongside rising stars Keezyto, Sophia Chisom, Tomi Ojo, Abayomi Alvin, Dj Capello, and Chimamanda Ukwueze.
