Following the successful team up on the movie, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which marked Ramsey Nouah‘s directorial debut, Play Network Studios and Ramsey Films are embarking on another journey down history lane in a new film, Igbo Landing.

The new project announced by Charles Okpaleke, CEO, Play Network Studios, is set for a World Premiere in 2025. The movie is produced by Chris Odeh and directed by Nouah.

Although the plot and settings for film were not stated, the official poster shows strong correlations to “Igbo Landing,” a historic site in Dunbar Creek on St. Simmons Island, Georgia, where perhaps the most significant mass suicides of slaves took place in 1803.

Igbo Landing” follows the heroic story of 75 Igbo slaves who revolted and took over control of the slave ship, the “Wanderer,” drowning their captors and grounding the ship. Realising more slavers awaited them on shore, the now “free captives” chose to drown themselves while singing in Igbo, “Mmuo mmiri du any bia, mmuo mmiri ha-edu anyi laa,” which translates to “The water spirit brought us; the water spirit will take us home.”

Cast ensemble for the movie and production timeline will be released in the coming days ahead of the World premiere in 2025.
