The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has announced its lineup for 2025, spotlighting a remarkable selection of African talent that underlines the increasing cultural influence of the continent on world stages. South Africa’s Tyla, Nigeria’s Seun Kuti and Rema, and Ghana’s Amaarae will be among those performing at the renowned festival, which annually transforms California’s desert landscape into a vibrant hub of music, art, and culture.
For Seun Kuti, this will be a historic third appearance at Coachella. First performing in 2012 as the festival’s inaugural Nigerian act, the Afrobeat artiste returns with Egypt 80.
On the other hand, Rema will make his first appearance on the Coachella stage as one of the most visible global ambassadors for Afrobeats. With a career punctuated by streaming records and chart dominance, his inclusion signals the increasing appetite for the genre’s innovative sounds.
Amaarae and Tyla complete the African representation, each from different sonic propositions that speak to the breadth of African music. African artistes have been holding it down at Coachella for the last couple of years, with Mr Eazi and Burna Boy making appearances in 2019, CKay in 2022, and this year with Tems.
The 2025 bill only carries on that legacy with the promise of rowing electric performances that cut across the diverse length of African music.
The 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will run for two weekends, April 11–13 and April 18–20, promising a memorable celebration of music, art, and culture, with African stars poised to deliver standout moments on the iconic stage.
