Two of Africa’s most celebrated musical forces, Tems and Burna Boy, are headlining the 2025 Afro Nation festival. They’ll be joined by a stellar lineup that includes Ayra Starr, Franglish, Gabzy, Tiakola, Inoss’B, Uncle Waffles, Scorpion Kings, DBN Gogo, Vigro Deep, and Amaarae.
The festival, described as a cornerstone of the global celebration of African music, is set to light up Portimão, Portugal, from July 9–11, 2025. Since its inception in 2019, Afro Nation has grown from a summer gathering into a transformative space for African artistry.
Founded by visionary Nigerian entrepreneurs Obi Asika and Smade, the event remains a vital platform for Afrobeats, amapiano, hip-hop, dancehall, and other genres shaped by African culture.
As Afro Nation celebrates its fifth anniversary, it brings with it the promise of monumental moments. Burna Boy, a performer who has defined the festival’s legacy since its debut, returns to the stage after a year that saw him shattering barriers and redefining what it means to be a global African artiste.
On the other hand, Tems, whose artistry has reshaped Afrobeats, will headline the festival for the first time, marking another milestone in her meteoric rise following her celebrated album, Born in the Wild.
This year’s edition also marks the return of The Piano People stage, which will spotlight amapiano’s infectious rhythms through performances by Vigro Deep, Oskido, KMAT, Shakes & Les, and Rosey Gold, among others.
