Rixel Studios has announced a global theatrical release for its highly anticipated Nollywood crime thriller, Red Circle. The crime thriller is slated for release in cinemas across Nigeria on June 6, 2025.
Directed by Akay Mason (Elevator Baby (2019), Superstar (2021)) and produced by Nora Awolowo and Abdul Tijani-Ahmed, the film assembles a stellar cast that includes Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Omowunmi Dada, Mike Afolarin, Ruggedman, and Debo Macaroni. Afrocritik previously reported on the cast reveal in April, 2024.
According to a press release made available to Afrocritik on Monday night, the film follows an investigative journalist, Fikayo Holloway, played by Folu Storms, as she unravels a web of secrets tied to a powerful crime syndicate in the Lagos metropolitan area.

Her investigation leads her to a mysterious businessman who pulls the strings of corruption, wealth, drugs, and even murder in the city, but exposing him comes at a risk that threatens not only her life but the lives of those dear to her. Red Circle delivers “a gripping narrative that blends suspense, action, and an unfiltered look at power and corruption in modern-day Lagos”, states the press release.
Red Circle tackles themes of corruption, media ethics, and whistleblower risks, mirroring global hits like The Morning Show, but providing a unique Nigerian perspective with universal appeal. The film is set to join the esteemed class of Nigerian films that explore the criminal underbelly of the country, particularly Lagos, following hugely successful releases such as the King of Boys franchise and The Black Book, which broke Netflix streaming records in 2023, with more than twenty million views globally.
“This film is our labour of love”, says Red Circle producer Nora Awolowo. “We have poured everything into creating an experience that is both thrilling and socially relevant. We can’t wait for audiences to experience Red Circle on the big screen”.
“Red Circle is more than just a thriller—it’s a story about truth, power, and the risks of uncovering secrets that some would kill to keep hidden. Viewers should prepare for a visual and psychological treat because Red Circle is as visually stunning as it is emotionally charged”, adds director, Akay Mason.

With Rixel Studios and Nile Distribution at the helm, Red Circle is poised for a strong international rollout. As Nollywood continues to gain global recognition, Red Circle aims to make a significant impact in Nollywood cinema, with stunning cinematography, high-octane action, and a deeply emotional core.
Presale tickets will be available soon, with exclusive early screenings planned in select cities.
